It’s entertaining to see how the media always seems to want senators be president whereas the voting public tends to prefer governors and vice presidents. Here’s an article about the chosen ones for 2008, John McCain and Hillary Clinton, who are, of course, both senators. It looks at some of their advantages and challenges. An interesting bit of trivia is that the last sitting senator to win the presidency was Kennedy in 1960, and even that was a disputed election. Prior to that, you have to go back to Harding in 1920.
