The group Switchfoot is giving their listeners instructions on how to circumvent the copy protection that the RIAA puts on their CDs. The Dave Matthews Band has taken similar measures to help users learn how to import songs from their CD to iTunes. Of course, I’m pretty sure this is illegal under the DMCA, which outlaws any circumvention of copy protection for any purpose. It’s almost fun to watch the RIAA try to kill the hands that feed by causing such inconveniences to regular users despite the fact I’m sure the professional music pirates have already produced high quality digital copies of all the songs on these discs.
