Byzantine Power Failures

Posted on Tuesday 20 September 2005

I thought power failures were always of the crash-fail nature based on, oh, about twenty five years of empirical evidence. Last night I learned different. After the storm yesterday, when I got home about 6:30 pm, the power was on, but it was only pulling about 15 to 30 watts. So pretty much, the only things that would work were lights and the battery backed-up alarm clocks since most every other electronics needs a bit more power to actually work. Anyway, it didn’t come on full power until about 2 am.

So, that’s my excuse why Leigh Ann’s blog entry didn’t get posted yesterday. I’ll go ahead and do it now.

Is that what happens when like my monitor flashes off for a second but my computer doesn’t restart? I’ve seen that a couple times.

I’ve never had that happen…except when I would degauss my monitor. I guess that it could be.
