Also, just in case you’re interested in the origin of the “hostile and abusive” nickname that is the Fighting Illini, check out this article in The Daily Illini (the student newspaper). Turns out the team was named for the state, not Native Americans. Guess the NCAA in their extensive research didn’t come across the actual source of the nickname.
