Leigh Ann’s Trip Journal: Entry #5

Monday, September 19 4:15pm local time

The reminder of Sunday evening I just hung out in my hotel room and packed all my bags for an early departure on Monday. I only had about 4 hours to sleep, but I didn’t sleep very much at all (since I’d slept so late on Sunday). :) I left on Monday morning about 6:45am and took a taxi back to the Taipei airport. I met a pastor from a Christian church in Taipei in the airport so it was cool to talk to him. It’s good to know that God is everywhere you go! :)

We had a decent sized plane for the flight to Manila, but there were only people in about the first 10 rows. I was surprised they flew that sized plane with such few people. The flight went fine and I arrived safely in Manila around noon local time. I had a car waiting for me at the airport to take me to my hotel. On the drive in, the driver pointed out some shopping malls near my hotel.

After getting checked in I walked around the hotel a bit and then decided to head to the malls since it was raining outside. It is a huge shopping mall and it was very crowded. I bought a couple of things and then decided to head back to the hotel to check email.

I don’t really know what else I’m going to do in Manila the rest of the evening and Tuesday morning since I don’t know anyone here. I don’t feel comfortable straying too far from the hotel. Too bad I don’t have any tour guides to show me the local places. I might just get up in the morning and hang out by the pool and relax. :) I can’t tell too much about Manila since I’m right in the middle of the city….it just looks like a big city. Although, the Philippines were beautiful when we were flying in with the mountains and the ocean.

On, another note, I meant to write in a previous journal that I was very surprised at Taipei. It was much more modern than I had imagined it would be. It was just like being in Chicago or some other big US city (except for the Chinese writing everywhere and the mountains in the background).

Monday is half way over for me already, but I hope everyone back in the US has a great start to their week!
