In case you haven’t been following the Sony Rootkit fiasco, where they basically unknowingly put malware on users’ computers when they listened to a music CD, here’s a good, concise summary by security guru Bruce Schneier. He hits on some interesting points about how the big security firms (e.g., McAfee, Symantec) appear to have been colluding to protect Sony’s interests rather than consumers. Kind of scary when you think of the implications.
