Buckley on Iraq

Posted on Saturday 25 February 2006

I still think the war in Iraq was that the right course of action. While I think the Bush administration has been pretty incompetent in the post-war occupation, the larger question is would the outcome have been more successful given even the best post-war planning or were the initial conditions of the situation such that a significantly better outcome was inherently impossible at the current time? Now, William F. Buckley, the most well-known living founder of the modern conservative movement and editor of The National Review, declares, “One can’t doubt that the American objective in Iraq has failed”.
