Personal Finance Intro and Disclaimer

Posted on Wednesday 17 May 2006

From time to time, friends will ask us about how we do our budget. So, I thought this might be a good forum to put up some posts about personal finance in general and how we do things. We’re by no means experts, but I’ve read a fair amount of books on the subject and our system has worked very well for us, so we’ll try to share our knowledge. And, of course, comments with questions, topics you’re interested in, or lessons you’ve learned on the matter are always appreciated. The one area I’m not very knowledgeable in is college savings since…well…we don’t have to worry about that yet :) . Unfortunately, blogging on this will probably be slow going at first until I finish my defense (May 31!).

And, I’ll go ahead and give the standard disclaimer that we’re not experts and anything involving finances has inherent risks. In other words, we’re not legally responsible if you end up losing your life savings, having your shirt ripped off your back, your dog dying, etc. as a result of taking any advice on this blog :) .

Also, with the new tagging system, the blog posts on this subject will all be available by following this link to the personal finance tag. Hopefully it’s something that you’ll find enjoyable and informative.
