We’re getting settled in a little more. We’ve already had visits from both parents, my grandparents and aunt and uncle, and Leigh Ann’s friend, Lisa. That breaks the mark for how many out-of-town visitors we had at our entire time at Champaign.
Anyway, I celebrated my First Annual 29th Birthday this year (luckily, this allows me to have my Second Annual 29th Birthday next year instead of the dreaded 30th). I’ve put some pics up in our gallery.
Also, I’ve got to get started on bombarding friends and family with any picture even vaguely related to our upcoming baby arrival. So, here’s some pics of me putting together the crib. It even converts into a toddler bed when the time comes. Kind of like Transformers.
In other news, the NCAA finally succeeded in removing Chief Illiniwek from the U of I. No word yet on whether Notre Dame will have to get rid of their stereotyped Irish leprechaun mascot. The biggest shame is this had to come from an external force rather than letting the U of I work it out within their own community. I’m not a big fan of circumventing public debate to force morality on others.
Also, when you get a new house, be prepared to get about 50 thousand solicitations trying to sell you mortgage insurance. It would be nice if they could see that you already have life insurance and just save you the trouble of filling up the paper shredder every other day.

aww…loving the crib! and i love that picture of you two with the cake. especially leigh ann’s perfectly positioned hand.
you should definitely post up more pics after you’ve decorated your home. we want a tour!
I never get any gifts related to the science of pirates…
How doe DC know you got a scientific book about pirates?????
Look through the picture gallery and you’ll see my Piratology gift book. DC, just to sweeten the pot for visiting Raleigh, if you come see us and I haven’t already given that book away…then it’s all yours.
Woah, Nelly! You don’t need to bribe anyone to visit the GOLDEN triangle. If Baby Bean doesn’t want a book on Pirateology (with an “e”), then FOB would like to have it (back). Hold on to your horses (and the book) until I return. OK?
That would’ve been clever. Thanks for the comment. I actually fell couple of times because the tile floor was really slippery with water on the ground.
OK, evidently I’ll have to rescind by Pirateology book offer. Guess you’ll just have to buy your own if you’re interested or peruse mine. On the back, the same company makes a Egyptology and Dragonology book. Might be something to look in to.
I’ll just have to make do with the other excitements of the Raleigh area.
Like William B. Umstead State Park. (Check out the William B. Umstead wikipedia entry for an exciting photo of the guy, by the way.)
One of my students had Egyptology and Dragonology and they were really cool! Happy Birthday!! Love the crib.
