The LA Times, Edition 2

Posted on Tuesday 19 June 2007

It was an exciting weekend around the Miller household. We had our 5 year anniversary on Friday and my birthday yesterday, so we had a joint celebration all day on Saturday. The day started with breakfast cooked by Matt and then I headed off to get myself a manicure and pedicure. That afternoon we saw the movie “Knocked Up” and then had dinner at the Angus Barn in Raleigh. It was a wonderful day!

The movie was funny, but I’m surprised it got such high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. I didn’t think it was 91% good…more like 75% I’d say. I think it was mostly funny to me because I could relate to the pregnancy parts, and it could have cut back a little on the swearing. But then our dinner was amazing!! It was the best steak I’d ever had…the melt in your mouth kind. They even gave us a free lemon pound cake and balloons for our anniversary. And check out the world’s largest doggie bag…these were our leftovers!

We had another baby class at the hospital last week. This one was “Newborn Basics” and they had about 15 workstations set-up where we practiced things like giving a baby a sponge bath, talked about marriage after the baby arrives, and various other activities. I’m still feeling good these days, but I haven’t been able to go on my long walks like usual since it’s gotten so hot. I’m trying to stay cool because I really want to avoid swelling. My favorite thing at the moment is just floating away in the pool. :)

I refused to get married within one month of my birthday because I didn’t want that “joint celebration” thing for myself. Half the time my birthday is on father’s day so I can also never have kids.

By the way, happy birthday. I’d have said it sooner, but I don’t frequent Facebook enough…
