Parenting and other stuff

Posted on Monday 9 June 2008

I’m excited that our church, Crosspointe, is doing a sermon series on parenting. Yesterday was the introductory message and I think the series will be excellent. I’m particularly excited because this is my first parenting series since becoming a parent myself. The messages are posted weekly on the church website if anyone out there is interested in listening.

I’m also looking forward to a new Bible study that started last week. My friend, Ariel, and I are co-leading a mommy/baby study during the day. It’s nice to be able to bring the babies without worrying about finding a babysitter or distracting everyone else. We are studying Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World: Finding Intimacy with God in the Busyness of Life by Joanna Weaver. I’m definitely a Martha by nature, so hopefully through the course of this study I’ll learn to be more Mary like or at least strike a good balance between the two.

Also, my brother has started a new blog that is shaping up to be pretty entertaining. Maybe if I post the link here for everyone to see then he will be encouraged to keep the blog up and not let it die like his previous two blogs. ;)

And finally a post would not be complete without at least one picture:

p.s. One little thing to add – I highly recommend the Target brand diapers. They work very well for us during the day and are 1/2 the price of Pampers. We still use Pampers at night because they hold better for the long haul over night, but the Target brand is great for day time.

Has Jared lost more blogs or hats?

My comment on his latest post:

    Good point’s.

This reminds me of something that should go on the StuffChristiansLike site:

    * Telling you the Hebrew/Greek meaning for a word and then explaining that it has five different meanings in the original language. This is usually done in a condescending manner towards English as if offended that we couldn’t come up with ten more ways to express the concept of “love”. A rare bonus is when Christians proceed outside Hebrew/Greek to explain some concept using a language in a third-world society, such as that of an African tribe.

Thanks for your comment. I have not read that book but it does sound like one I could benefit from. :)

I see your pics of sweet Kaelyn and they always bring back so many fun memoreis of Grace not too long ago.

Our church just finished a parenting series and it was good too. I bet the messages are online as well if you’re looking for more. I know I always am…
