Why You Shouldn’t Hide in Mouse Holes
( Matt's Posts )
Pretty much as long as Kaelyn’s been walking, one of her favorite games is “Daddy chases me repeatedly from the living room to the family room and back”. The latest instantiation is Kaelyn is a mouse and I’m a squirrel (if I happen to carry Evie with me, she becomes Evie Bunny…for inquiring minds, Leigh [...]
Wednesday Wonders
( Matt's Posts )
(1) I am wondering where the past 6 months has gone?? Evie will be celebrating her HALF BIRTHDAY on Friday. Wow – I just can’t believe it. I probably sound like a broken record by now, but the time is just seriously flying by. (2) I am wondering how such a tiny little thing like [...]
Baba O’Riley Theory of Slow Motion
( Matt's Posts )
After watching this John Hughes montage, I came up with this theory: any video clip becomes twice as good when set to The Who’s Baba O’Riley in slow motion. To test this theory, the original video of Kaelyn shaking her sillies out: And, the new version: Thoughts?
Evie’s Second Month
( Matt's Posts )
Baby Evie continues to grow by leaps and bounds. Her little personality has really started to shine through this month as she smiles and coos. I love it when she “talks”. When she isn’t sleeping she must be looking out at the world and you can tell those little eyes are sucking everything in. She [...]
My Personal Cheerleader
( Matt's Posts )
I was running this (very hot) morning and pushing Kaelyn in the jogging stroller. At one point I had to stop and walk. I literally walked about 5 seconds and Kaelyn said, “I want to keep running Mommy!” Thanks for keeping me motivated Kaelyn!
Kaelyn Shaking Her Sillies Out

You parents know The Wiggles song I’m talking about:
Tummy Time
( Matt's Posts )
We went by the pet store today. It’s one of Kaelyn’s favorite activities. She just runs around looking at all of the animals. It’s especially good on hot or rainy days when you can’t play outside, and it’s something easy I can do with both girls. Anyway, we were there today and Kaelyn was looking [...]
Ketchup
( Matt's Posts )
Kaelyn was playing with a magazine. I walked away for a minute to change Evie’s diaper. All of a sudden Kaelyn ran over to me saying “I’ve got ketchup on my finger.” She did in fact eat some ketchup a little while earlier at lunch so I thought to myself that I must have missed [...]
Long Sentence
( Matt's Posts )
At dinner last night Kaelyn said, “Daddy, I want to take my bib off because it’s too wet.” Pretty impressive for a 22-month old!
Conversations with Kaelyn
( Matt's Posts )
Upon seeing a heart shaped lollipop in one of her books, Kaelyn rushes into the room where I am and says “Have a heart-shaped sucker Mommy!” I reply, “I’m sorry, sweetie, we don’t have any heart-shaped suckers, only regular shaped ones.” Kaelyn responds, “Okay, Mommy, let’s go!” Now she is enjoying a nice, red Dum-Dum.
Month One
( Matt's Posts )
Wow – I seriously can not believe that Evie is already a month old! June was a complete time warp. It seems like time goes by even faster now with two kids. I’m trying to really suck up every moment as much as possible. I had a lot of help for the month with Matt’s [...]
Evie and Kaelyn
( Matt's Posts )
One of the many joys of our new Evie is seeing Kaelyn interact with her. Most of the time, there are more exciting things for Kaelyn to do, but several times a day she’ll become interested in Evie. Everyone asks us how Kaelyn gets along with the newborn, so here are a couple of videos [...]
Evie’s First Week in Review
( Matt's Posts )
Evie’s first week at home has been great! So far she is an easy baby to care for. She literally sleeps all the time. Most times during the day I have to actually wake her up to feed her and then she usually goes right back to sleep. At night she wakes about every three [...]
Kaelyn’s New Things
( Matt's Posts )
Some random moments of joy from Kaelyn recently: She’s really getting good at stringing together nouns and verbs to make some simple sentences. One of my favorites is sometimes when she sees a bug and then it crawls away, she’ll say, “I don’t see it. Where’d it go? I don’t know.” and throw her hands [...]
Welcome Evie Wren!!!
( Matt's Posts )
Just a quick post to let you know that Evie Wren Miller was born on June 4, weighing 6 lbs. 15 oz. and 20 inches long. Both her and mommy are healthy. You can check out all the pics in this album.
Another Amazing Moment
( Matt's Posts )
This morning’s moment happened before we even made it downstairs for the day. Kaelyn was playing with some of her toys by leaning over and talking to them. Then she says to them, “I love you! Kiss.” And then she kissed them all! Okay, okay, now you can bend over and pick your melted heart [...]
Amazing
( Matt's Posts )
Kaelyn says at least one thing everyday that just completely amazes me and usually makes me laugh uncontrollably. For example, this evening she had been playing hard with all the other kids in our Life Group. I could tell she was all sweaty. When we got in the car to go home she exclaims, “Really [...]
Moving On Up
( Matt's Posts )
With the inevitable arrival of a baby to be named later in June, we decided it would be good to go ahead and convert Kaelyn’s room to a “big girl” room so it’s one less adjustment when the baby arrives. So, we trekked to the new IKEA in Charlotte, got the goods, and then Leigh [...]
25 Things About Leigh Ann
( Matt's Posts )
Here’s my list for you non-Facebookers out there…. 1.I hate making lists like this, but I kept getting tagged so I guess people want to know more about me. 2.I write and eat left-handed but play most sports right-handed. 3.I’ve been to Canada, India, England, Taiwan (twice), Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, Spain, and China (and several [...]
25 Things About Me
( Matt's Posts )
Since I did this on Facebook, I thought I’d publish it here too… 1. I don’t usually do these “about yourself” things. But, since I probably haven’t done one in a decade, figured I’d give it a shot. 2. I feel pretty confident in my ability to evaluate myself as a husband, but haven’t the [...]
